Walmart Dog Collar Made By SimplyShe Almost Kills Dog

>> Oct 27, 2008

Well, almost losing Rex, my daughter's beloved horse, wasn't enough heartache for a little girl I guess. Yesterday, my daughter almost lost her puppy too due to a collar we'd bought for Trixie from Wal-mart made by SimplyShe.

Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 37. Ewww. I ran right out and bought a bunch of anti-wrinkle product for my face. Nope, I'm not paranoid about getting older. Yeah right.

Anyway, I've been trying to figure out what my husband bought me for my birthday (I had thought the printer he bought me last month was it but he wasn't done shopping yet which I found out last week). I knew where my other gift was coming from (Jeffers) so I knew it had something to do with horses. I asked him if it was for me or the horse. Hubby's answer after thinking about it: the horse. I asked him if it was for her a$$ half or her front half. Hubby's answer: her middle and it's something I need. Hmmm...so I'm thinking what don't I have already that I need for JeeNee? Maybe a western saddle pad because I need one of those. Then the box comes in and it's too small to be a western saddle pad. I'm back to not having a clue what it is.

I open my presents up last night and it's a new helmet with leather covering and stitching. It looks like a western helmet as opposed to the all white, shiny schooling helmet I've been using (that hubby had told me before was geeky but at the time, it was the only one I could find that felt like it fit right). My new helmet came with a bag to keep it in and a matching fleece jacket.

After opening it, I said, "I thought this was for the horse?" He said, "It is for JeeNee because you look like a geek riding on her back with your other helmet." Gosh, wouldn't want to embarrass my horse now. I laughed so hard. So, here is a picture. It's the chocolate brown one (not the one with pink on it but you can see the stitching to get an idea from the larger pink/black helmet:)

Since I am all about matching, I did recently see a black and brown western bridle on eBay that I will have to look for (yeah!) when I'm able to afford the bridle for her so everything matches her pretty black saddle. Apparently, JeeNee shouldn't be carrying anything on herself that makes her appear like she's hauling around a geek so my neurotic insistence on things matching is to her benefit - she has to keep up appearances ya know:) LOL. Now I am going to have to ride again soon before it gets too cold. I haven't rode since before Rex died. I still miss the big guy...it still catches me by surprise sometimes how much.

While on the birthday subject and back to happy stuff, here is the birthday cake my husband ordered for me. I haven't had a fun cake like this since I was a kid:)

My three-year-old was sitting next to me when I blew out the candles. I couldn't blow them all out with one breath (which got me teased by hubby...hey, give me a break - asthmatic here! lol). Apparently there was too much smoke when I blew them all out because my youngest started coughing and waving her hands around to clear the smoke...the lil turd.

My kids all made me cards. They were all sweet...how much they love me, telling me I'm a good mom, they appreciate what I do for them (I'm going to keep these so I can pull them out when they're teenagers and remember the good ole days), that I'm a cool mom, awesome, etc. My son made me one of those flippy books so if you flip thru it quickly, it looks like a movie scene. It was of me and him getting closer and closer thru the book and the last page was of us hugging. It was adorable. They sung me songs too. I didn't hear from my stepkids (it would tick their mother off if they acknowledged me so I wasn't expecting it if they did remember, which wasn't likely) so no big surprise there. It wasn't going to mess up my day. My kids and hubby did a great job of celebrating my birthday yesterday. I have very thoughtful kids and hubby.

Horse Updates

More progress! While my daughter is just learning to go over cross rails, I am beginning to think I should get a prescription for valium or something, lol. Are all moms nervous when their child starts to learn to jump?

Right now, it's more of a trot/hop over and it's not too bad but once she starts REALLY soaring over those rails, I am probably going to alternate between wanting to be sick to being really proud of her!

As far as my girl, with the cooler weather coming in, she's gotten feisty! The Draft in her likes this weather. I watched her lunge last week (before the flu hit our house) and she definitely was full of it. She was beautiful (but I sure as hell wouldn't have gotten on her back at that time, lol).
