Equine Dentist in West Central Ohio

>> Jun 19, 2008

I have had a few people on my other blog ask me about who we use for an equine dentist here in west central Ohio so I thought I'd post it here with all my other equine topics. My filly had her first floating as well as her wolf teeth pulled and they did an excellent job!

He's Gone

>> Jun 16, 2008

Jack went to his new home today to be a trail horse again. The kids and I went to the stable today to say our good-byes to him before he left.

I brushed him out good so he would look pretty for his new little owner when he came off the trailer. He enjoys being brushed and didn't mind my kisses on his nose.

I had three girls sobbing when he walked onto the trailer. Even the three year old was crying, which I didn't expect. It was a teary ride for us leaving the stable today.

He made the trip fine and he is now at his new home about 2-1/2 hours away, but it will be hard to go to the stable tomorrow and not see him at the gate waiting for us to come see him like he always did. It clenches my stomach to think of him nervous and wondering what the hell happened at his new home right now. I wonder if he's wondering where we are? He'll adjust like he did when we bought him but it's hard to think about right now. We'll adjust to:(

Her First Canter

My daughter is quite proud of herself. She cantered for the first time. For a girl who has spent so much time full of anxiety and fear, not just over horses but other things in life, this was a huge accomplishment for her.

I thought I had it all videotaped too. I had the zoom in too close though and trying to use my digital camera for videos like that didn't work. The picture quality was terrible so I won't post them here. However, I will definitely take my real video camera for her next lesson to catch it. She had such a huge smile on her face!

Looks Like He's Almost Sold

It is looking more and more definite that Jack has found his new home. We have the deposit and we have the vet check. We are just waiting for the coggins results to come back, which should be in a couple days. His new owner will be a little girl who rode him very well. She is a confident rider. Jack seemed to really like her and her mom. He was the perfect gentleman for them and very adorable - even licking their hands like a puppy, lol.

It's going to be a very sad day when Jack pulls out of the stable that last time to go to his new home. It is a couple hours away so I can't drive by to see him or anything like that. I will likely never see him again. I hope his new owners will email me pictures now and then. I'm afraid I am going to turn into a blithering, sobbing idiot.

Jack is going back to do what he did before we bought him - ride the trails. He will be happier doing that I believe.

He's bonded strongly to my daughter (he was her horse)...that's the two of them in the picture. It'll be a sad day for all of us. I'm afraid I got too attached to the little guy. I hope in some way he understands that he'll be happier this way.
